editorial: Take a stand
Commission candidates defer to public on land referendum. June 13, 2004
The taxpaying public expects
leadership — not buck-passing back to the people. A few commission
candidates have taken a discernable stand. Dick Baker,
who chairs the land committee, is gung-ho for the bond package. With
so many significant, lingering questions about the $50 million land
program, it is every candidate's duty to research the issue and articulate
a clear position. Failure to do so flunks the leadership test.
