Indian River Neighborhood Association
Announces County Commissioner Candidate Endorsements
The Indian River Neighborhood Association (IRNA) has
announced its County Commissioner endorsements, District One-Richard
Baker,
District Three-Gary Wheeler and District Five-Sandra Bowden.
The
IRNA Interviewing Committee invited all of the candidates in both parties
to address the committee and be interviewed. All 15 candidates accepted the
invitation and each was asked a series of questions concerning the future
of the county. Each of the separate interviews lasted between 45 minutes
and one hour. Topics included vision for the county, county growth, impact
fees, impact of national builders, affordable housing, interim growth
controls, Urban Service Boundary, $50 million bond referendum, property
rights, financing school growth, voting records, qualifications and more.
The
IRNA Interviewing Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors
unanimously endorsed the announced candidates.
The
IRNA is enthusiastic about the endorsed candidates! All three of these
candidates fully agree with the principles of the IRNA mission and its
controlled growth initiative. They all have the experience, track records,
integrity and courage to positively represent all of the citizens of Indian
River County. The IRNA believes that county elections should be about county
issues and that party affiliations shouldn't play a role. All Republicans
and all Democrats will be well-served by Richard Baker, Gary Wheeler and
Sandra Bowden and the IRNA is proud to endorse them.
The
Indian River Neighborhood Association had 800 members, mostly on the
barrier island, just four months ago. Today it has over 5,000 dues paying
members in over 250 neighborhoods throughout the county.
